great dragon

clear smoke

mind open mouth ready

digging in the soil again day

with any hat on

live the drop of silk trailing down

my arm cools it as it slides feeling salt

no eagerness to rest-ended

sleep comes even as death

the sliver working, working, working

making honey for the head

swiveling on shoulders hunched before the web

the spider sitting with the fly

there is always time to really watch while there

take the intimate out

pass the wound

pass it!

dry it in the sun

sweet raisin home

mother

as my legs grow longer,

undone are the hems

that covered my knees, my ankles

the tender bones.

time after time, I remember

the soft cloth of the pincushion

with its sandy center.

a bright red tomato

poked,

pierced with pearl-studded pins.

like my heart

held in my hands

offered always.
